The ZigBee wireless mesh network standard is widely adopted in hospitality operations. In this mesh network each of the Guest Room Switches is a node in the network and the data from any given switch on a guest room floor is passed from node to node toward the IT closet, where a single ZigBee to Ethernet converter passes the data on to the Ethernet backbone for transmission to the server in the Main IT server room. ZigBee wireless mesh networks have proven very resilient in the hospitality environment.
